Wales has a plethora of traditions linked to the Christmas season and the New Year: from visiting church for the Plygain, collecting Calennig and of course the antics of Mari Lwyd and her followers.
Further details on some of these traditions can be found here: https://www.wales.com/about/culture/welsh-christmas-traditions
In the meantime, we wish you all a Happy New Year and send our thanks to Cwmni Dawns Werin Caerdydd (Cardiff folk dancing group) for sharing their Mari Lwyd 2021 verses with us (click on the image to enlarge). Mari Lwyd even has a face mask – very timely!
Perhaps you would like to give the Mari Lwyd verses a go…. if so, why not join in with the Mari Lwyd Stomp? Send you entries to your local ‘Menter Iaith’ (details here), closing date 5/1/2021. The Stomp will be streamed live on 12/01/2021 at 7pm.
