Welcome to the fiftieth Gŵyl Ifan – and the final one!
We are delighted to be celebrating 50 years of Gŵyl Ifan this year — and, as has been decided, this will be the final festival of its kind. Join us on Saturday, 27 June for a day of tradition, dance and celebration.
What’s happening?
Morning
Raising the Summer Pole at St Fagans.
Afternoon
Dancing at various locations across the city.
Lunch and transport
Free of charge as usual, thanks to the generous sponsorship of the Welsh Folk Dance Society.
Taplas Bach
Saturday evening at Whitchurch Rugby Club, including a meal and the chance to dance your favourite dances — for the fiftieth time!
Social Evening
Friday night at the Llandaff Institute, with a finger buffet to welcome those arriving early for the weekend.
Why is this year so special?
We hope to attract as many dancers and musicians as possible from across Wales to Cardiff this year, ensuring a joyful and fitting celebration of a festival that has been a cornerstone of our dance calendar for half a century.
Although this will be the last major Gŵyl Ifan, Cwmni Dawns Werin Caerdydd will continue to mark the date each year by holding a day of dancing — with a warm welcome to friends old and new, from near and far.
